Facelift

If you’re considering a facelift, you’re not alone — facelifts were one of the top five cosmetic procedures performed in 2021 because women and men want to improve their appearance by eliminating wrinkles and sagging skin. At Strax in Lauderhill, Florida, the expert surgeons offer two options: a surgical facelift and noninvasive laser skin rejuvenation. Contact the office to schedule an appointment; the expert team of physicians is here to discuss how you can gain a more youthful appearance.

Chin Implant

A weak chin has a significant impact on a person’s appearance. It makes the neck appear fleshy, accentuates the size of a normal nose, and makes a large nose seem even more immense. When the chin is augmented with an implant, a strong chin profile is restored and overall facial structure is pleasantly balanced.

Chin implants come in various sizes, shapes, and preformed materials that are biocompatible with human tissue. The type of implant used is determined by the size of the existing chin and the changes desired by the patient. At the time of surgery, the physician may further customize the implant by making slight changes to its shape.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most women can use their hair to hide the scars. For women with short hair, it might be a good idea to allow your hair to grow slightly longer while the scars are still fresh. You also can meet with our esthetician to discuss special makeup that can camouflage the healing scars.

You can expect some bruising and swelling after your facelift. Most of the swelling should fade within about a week, while the bruising may take two to three weeks to clear up. You may experience some headaches and numbness, itching and hair loss at the incision.  Bandages applied after surgery are usually removed within a day or so, and stitches may be removed within one to two weeks.

Immediately after surgery, the surgeon usually applies a dressing that will remain in place for two to three days. The person will experience some tenderness, and the surgeon will prescribe medications to help with post-operative discomfort.

Chewing will probably be limited immediately after chin surgery, and the person may need to follow a diet of liquids and soft foods for a few days after the procedure. Most patients feel a stretched, tight sensation after the surgery, but this usually subsides within a week.

After approximately six weeks, most swelling will be gone, and the person can start to see the results of the procedure. The surgeon may recommend avoiding rigorous activity for the first few weeks after surgery. Normal activity can be resumed after approximately 10 days.

When viewed in profile, the projection of the chin plays a very important role in balancing the forehead and nose. A small chin can make a nose look large; a large chin can make a nose look smaller. In the front view, a short chin results in the face looking “top-heavy”.

Recovery after brow lift can vary from patient to patient and depends heavily on which surgical approach was used. For instance, recovery after a traditional brow lift is typically longer and more extensive than recovery after an endoscopic brow lift.

Generally speaking, patients should expect some level of discomfort, bruising, and swelling for the first several days after a brow lift procedure. Cold compresses and prescription medication can help relieve these symptoms, and patients should sleep on their backs with their heads elevated to promote proper healing and reduce further swelling. Most patients are able to return to work about 1 – 2 weeks after a brow lift, though some residual swelling may be present. Strenuous physical activity should be restricted for about 4 – 6 weeks, or until cleared by your surgeon. While there will be a visible improvement in your look virtually immediately after surgery, the final results can take up to six months or longer to develop as the swelling resolves and the tissues settle.
