Born and raised on the largest island in the Caribbean (Cuba), Dr. José Muñoz emigrated at the age of 15. Not knowing a word of English, he transitioned into high school and was able to attend Swarthmore College, one of the most prestigious liberal arts schools in the country.
Accepted to study medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (Rutgers Medical School). He was one of four annual recipients of the distinguished Humanism Scholar Award, which focused on the importance of integrating compassion and humanism into the doctor-patient relationship.
Awarded a Fellowship in Plastic Surgery at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia and under the tutelage of Dr. James Bradley (world-renowned craniofacial surgeon) and Dr. James Fox (with nearly forty years of experience in cosmetic surgery), among other top professors, he has been trained to perform numerous cosmetic and reconstructive throughout the human body.
Dr. Jose Muñoz specializes in aesthetic breast procedures, primary and secondary breast reconstruction, breast asymmetry, gynecomastia, abdominoplasty, bra roll excision, liposuction, BBL and many more surgical procedures.
He served as Team Vice President and then Chief of Surgery at Chesterfield General Hospital in Cheraw, South Carolina. He went on to be Vice Chief of Surgery at St. Joseph Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida, before being promoted to chief of surgery.
